Neuroscience-based Group Education

Real Heal, PLLC Psychoeducation groups facilitated by Kristina Callender. LICSW & Emma Hudson, LSWAIC

Up to 10 pre-screened adults meet weekly near the Lacey transit center. Each one-hour class is part of a 12-session curriculum. To complement the group therapy, participants are expected to have individual therapy sessions at least monthly with a provider of their choice.

 

 Communication Group

Identify unhealthy communication patterns and habits. Learn best practices for expressive and receptive communication. Understand the importance of attunement, validation, and active listening to improve your relationship skills. Practice assertive communication skills in a way that respects your needs and others. Know the importance of establishing healthy boundaries to maintain relationships. Practice communication in a supportive group setting with professional modeling and feedback.

   Mindfulness Group

Mindfulness has been proven to reduce stress-related illnesses and age-related brain degeneration and improve cognitive functions. Develop skills to be intentional and prevent your mind from borrowing future trouble and ruminating on regret. Learn strategies and practice a variety of mindfulness techniques for lasting change. Find peace and contentment in the present. Learn how to increase awareness of your thoughts without judgment. Develop a mindfulness practice to improve your life satisfaction, concentration & memory.

   Scheduled for Wednesdays at 10am in 2025

 

                                                           Anger Group

Learn the mind, brain, and body views of anger to enhance your emotional regulation skills. Understand how perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking can keep us stuck in anger. Through Mindfulness-Based Impulse Control [mb-ICT] and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), participants build awareness, understand the meaning behind their behavior and emotional reactions, and manage triggers. Understand how to approach anger and fear management. Develop short-term anger management skills to improve impulse control and self-regulation. Learn long-term anger management strategies and techniques for lasting behavioral change.

                                                      Scheduled for Wednesdays at Noon in 2025

 

Social Engagement Group

Understand Polyvagal theory and learn how to regulate your nervous system. Learn how the vagus nerve impacts us and how to improve your resilience with vagal tone. Discover how glimmers improve your ability to recover when triggered. Co-regulation is a crucial component of the social engagement system. Experience reciprocal social interaction with peers. Understand how to identify the hierarchy of the nervous system and how the various states impact how we view ourselves and the world. Develop somatic skills to feel safe and connected.

          Scheduled for Wednesdays at 4pm in 2025

 

 

Club Room is an optional opportunity for registered group members to mingle. The private room without staff is open before and after group sessions. Crafts, games, and snacks are provided.

 

Tricare, Regence & Premera, and traditional Medicare Part B are accepted with various copays.

Private pay costs $50 per session (financial hardship discounts)
